Le Galaxie, the overlords of thunderous mega electro rock, release their debut EP Transworld, on Friday May 15th 2009 on Battlepulse Records.
Transworld follows on from the 2008 single releases We Bleed The Blood Of Androids and You Feel the Fire! The EP features four tracks, Transworld, Beyond Transworld, The Fury and Equalizers. According to the band, they took to the Le Galaxie sonic laboratory, donned their white coats, pushed up their spectacles, pulled down their visors and built these tunes like a huge wall of Tetris. The result is a combination of dance, electro, sci-fi and vocal distortion

Over the last year, Le Galaxie have built a magnificent reputation for their increasingly chaotic live performances. Creating high-energy explosions on each and every stage they invade, the band relishes the opportunity to perform live. According to Le Michael Galaxie, “nothing fuels the Le Galaxie mothership more than a crowd of people who have no fucking idea who we are”. More often than not, strangers become fans. At a recent late-night club gig at Whelan’s in Dublin, Swedish band I’m From Barcelona approached Le Galaxie, inviting them to perform at this years illustrious Popadelica Festival in Sweden in May. Along the way, Le Galaxie have performed with numerous bands including The Whip, The Presets, Amusement Parks on Fire, Brakes, This Will Destroy You and Fight Like Apes.

Le Galaxie features Michael Pope on guitar and synth, David McGloughlin on bass, Anthony Hyland on guitar and Alistair Higgins on drums. Formed from the warm embers of their previous incarnation 66e, Le Galaxie’s music has been described as a blend of “Mogwai with Kraftwerk” by The Irish Times, ‘...wholesome and gorgeous…’ by State Magazine and ‘spaced-out, sci-fi inspired sonic explorations…’ by Hot Press Magazine.

John Blek and The Rats

John_Blek_and_The_Rats.jpg

Taking their inspiration from the revelry of music and friends, the bitter end of the bottle, the bruising passage of life and all that comes with it, John Blek and the Rats are a fresh folk outfit from Cork whose melancholy is tempered by a penchant for a good ol’ hodown and a hollerin’.

Raised on a diet of the American folk and ballads of their fathers, John Blek and the Rats are a band whose main aspiration is the song. Currently recording in an abandoned dentist surgery in West Cork, John Blek and the Rats' ambition is second only to their desire to write and perform perfect pop records infused with the Americana sensibilities of years gone by.

This July John Blek and the Rats will embark on their first journey to play music in California. German excursions in the latter half of 2009 are also being arranged.

Disconnect 4

DISCOnnect 4 play an infectious blend of dirty dancefloor rock and never let the pace slip, with dancey drums, delayed guitar, melodic synth and driving basslines. The band formed in December 2006 and soon began playing live dates around Galway, Ireland. With two former members of Galway indie band The Dirty Sweets they had a clear idea of the music they wanted to make, and quickly developed a danceylive set. There soon followed a string of support slots with the likes of The Twang, The Flaws, Giveamanakick and Messiah J.

Entering the summer they took a break from live shows to write new tracks and rebuild with new bassist, Yvonne. The Róisín Dubh Summer Shindig heralded their return to gigging with a storming live set, sharing the bill with Fight Like Apes and Delorentos. This was to set the tone for the rest of 2007 and lead to support slots with The Things, The Sultans of Ping and The Brunettes, among others, and also a much-coveted slot at the Bud Rising Festival alongside Nine Black Alps, Calvin Harris and David Kitt. In the summer of 2008 they enlisted producer Ciáran O'Shea (Laundry Shop, Echogram, Rulers of the Plant) to record 2 tracks for a double a-side released in October and they recorded a live session with Dan Hegarty for 2fm.
