My best advice is to add your real life friends and a few media sources. Twitter can be one big echo chamber of assholes who whinge about whatever is trending. Don't be afraid to unfollow people if they're boring or tweet too much. Google for a top list of Irish twitterers and don't follow them.

[edit: also, those accounts who tweet nothing but HILARIOUS/WITTY stuff all the time. They can fuck right off too.]
