Apparently the JET programme is a bit restrictive. You could end up in a remote village and not see very much.

My girlfriend lived in Tokyo for a couple of years and she liked it a lot. It's meant to be beyond huge.

Japan is fantastic. I spent three weeks there. Get a rail pass because train travel is expensive. Japan itself otherwise is much cheaper than people would make you believe. Dinner can be had for less than 2 euro, sushi train (all you can eat) would be max 10 euro. accomodation is about 20 euro a bed a night so no more than most european countries. its pretty nice too!

Stay in the love hotels aswell, they are a riot (especially if you have a bird).

See if you can find the vending machine with the used schoolgirl undies and go geisha stalking in gion. Its all weird and wonderful.
