'Ricky's Hand' - Fad Gadget.

Failed to chart on its initial release in 1980, mind.

You could never admit to liking wham songs as a kid, but they had some great pop tunes.
Loads of melody & youthful exuberance. In hindsight it's pure Motown.

Wham!'s bassist, Deon Estus, was taught by famous motown session bassist James Jamerson and all.

The Wham! trainspotter tune to claim as your favourite is Blue (armed with love), if you ever feel like boring someone to death.

In tenuously-related news, I recently read an excerpt from Seamas O’Reilly’s memoir in which he described the INLA as the “Andrew Ridgeley of Irish republicanism” and it was a rare genuine laugh-out-loud-while-reading sort of moment

I came across this on an Irish Rock forum. Two lads from Blackrock. They were the first Irish band to be signed to an American label, apparently the song made it into the American Hot 100. At first I laughed, then realised its really rather good. If only they'd had a better stylist. Check out the technical wizardry in the strange video.

P.s mimes should not have beards

haven't seen this since the early days of youtube -
directed by Spike Lee and featuring Laurence Fishburne, dancers (think the kids from Fame trying breakdancing) and loads of white powder which made it unbroadcastable
GRAND MASTER FLASH (MELLE MEL) - White Lines (Don't Do It) 1983

I remember my friend next door had, now that's what I call music 3 on double cassette.
That track was on it.

Compilation released summer 1984. (I had to look it up)

Suzanne Vega & her lovely silky voice.

love her voice - she sings in her own voice which is really discouraged in modern pop.
video also reminds me that session musicians were mad for the mullets back in the 80's.
