It's the Friday 80s Pop song thread (2 Viewers)

This is such a great pop song. Really emotional. I'm close to welling up. I love the 80s guitars. Glad I got over my hatred of chorus pedals.

I only heard her singing recently. I just knew her pictures from metal hammer.
I suppose the music is inconsequental. She was providing a service for the pre internet teen.

Same here! Was well aware of here from all the posters in Kerrang and RAW etc

We had a door sized poster of her (from Kerrang I think) in our band room...not in shot

I only heard her for the first time a couple of years ago

It made me wince

An almost extinct species, the pop band (popus bandus)

I dunno whether to blame U2 or Smashing Pumpkins or what but you'd miss rock bands sounding like they're having fun. I don't think rock can make an actual comeback until they do.

There's a guy YouTube, mid - late 50s, he calls himself "the real music observer" he loves all that kind of corporate rock (for lack of a better term) but he sees the rise of grunge in the early 90s as the death of fun rock music. I loved/love grunge and all but he makes some fair points.

from Kings of The Wild Frontier LP

that you sell something this awesome to primary school kids in 1980/81
shows the greatness of the era.

Been a while since I played Whammy! Sounds great today!

The wider my listening has gone the more singular the B-52's have become, they're basically like Joy Division in that way.
