SIMPLE MINDS - I Travel (1980) live on Scottish TV

I think I posted these before:
Sweat In Bullets (1981)

Lovesong (1981)

American (1981??) live in studio in Paris. blows away version that was released.

all their best songs were dominated by Derek Forbes' bass and Mick McNeill's keyboards.

There was a girl in my class who was a massive Simple Minds fan. She was absolutely disgusted when our English teacher (Con Harvey - legend) told her that Jim Kerr's ears made him look like Plug from the Bash Street Kids.

I didn't say it to anyone, but I've been hearing 5 star songs in my head all day.
They had some well put together pop tunes. This was released 35 years ago.

"The Jackson's ??? Never heard of them."

Denise Pearson the 5 Star singer's photo came came up on Pointless (TV quiz).
I realised after a minute or two who it was and remembered her name.
it was a pointless answer - (zero out of 100 people asked were able to indentify her).

this has often come up on kids TV live bloopers:

in fairness the Jacksons, I mean Pearsons, took it in good grace.

THE OCEAN BLUE - Between Something and Nothing (1989)

very English sounding alt rock jangly guitar and keyboards band from Pennsylvania.
just came up in my youtube suggestions. I never heard of them despite their familiar sound.
their first album on Sire seems to full of songs like this.

DIGNEY FIGNUS - The Girl With The Curious Hand

cheapo attempt at a Duran style video by Boston based guy (DF is his real name) who someone from Mass told me later reinvented himself as a Celtic folk singer songwriter.
the story behind the woman in the video is the only interesting part. she later married a billionaire Republican politician.
