It almost feels like the kind of thing Pulp were doing 15-20 years later

Impressive. Definitely should feature a dapper 80s Peter Coyote running around the city streets at night for the video. Oh right, I know that Things Fall Apart song... but from where? ZE Records comp maybe.

Does this just resemble another well-known 80s tune... or does another track sample it? Heard it on the radio midweek. DeVoto must have been doing the old hairbrush routine to Tom Verlaine's vocals when he was experiencing growing pains. He got stuck with that too cool New York pout.

Worth posting for the mad video alone. He looks a bit like that Joe Jackson with the bowler hat.

Ha! Should probably put it in this thread so! Novelty song alert though. And zany video.

great tune alright. I was always worried about what happened to the frogs in the video.
I hope they lived happily ever after.

I think this is Duran Duran's first appearance on top of the pops. 5/3/1981.

A bit of sugary, girly man pop reggae from scritti politti.
Its a great sounding record. Nice bass groove & keyboard touches.

this blows the version they released out of the water.
great example of how important Derek Forbes (bass) and Mick McNeill (keyboards) were to the band.

Ray Campi died last night. He was a massive influence on the late 70's/early 80s rockabilly revival. Posting this here because of the 80s-ness of this crowd

I’ve been listening to Celtic Frost’s Mexican Radio cover for over 30 years and that’s the first time I’ve ever heard the original. I mean I knew it existed, I just never heard it or sought it out. Weird.
