There's a pretty big difference between vegetarianism (which is what i thought the thread was originally about) to not eating any animal products. I've been doing pretty well with the ole vegetarianism for the last 23 years, as it happens.

Anyway I can't tell you why you shouldn't, but i can tell you why i wouldn't - it's morally / ethically indefensible, it's selfish, it's completely unnecessary, it's cruel, it's barbaric - it's a whole list of things that (to me) are so completely self-evident I don't see how it could ever be up for discussion.

But that's just me. I guess i think it's just not a very nice thing for supposedly civilised people to do.
 
Oh, ITalkShite's 2c: Humans developed to eat vegetables, pulses, nuts and the like regularly, and to eat meat occasionally. And I could say civilised people imprisoning animals they supposedly care about enough not to kill is just not a nice thing to do either.

Biological or not we can now choose to live without meat/animal products end of story. And I guess I think it would be a nice thing for supposedly civilised people to do. But that's just me.

I choose not to cause it just doesn't feel right. It's NOT okay to eat a really bad diet as that could make you feel unwell. It's NOT okay to ride your bike with no hands ALL the time cause you might get hurt.....

For instance this

People are not malnourished there isn't enough food in the world, they're mostly malnourished because of the uneven distribution of wealth in the world. You think if Yanks ate 10% fewer burgers a year that the land would be used to grow extra rice, and that that rice would somehow end up in the bellies of the starving? That's not how the world works, dude, and you know it

The health arguments are spurious (for a start I'd bet the figures are spurious and anyway - if veggies don't get cancer or heart attacks, what do they die of? do they actually live longer?), as is the pesticide argument (you think pesticides don't get used on plants?), the survival argument is ridiculous (so one athlete is a vegetarian, so what ... also the blue whale is the biggest meat eater of all time (krill are animals)), etc. etc. etc.
