I thought it was a culchie thing. My Meath mother and fam used to go on about it.
 
Are people from Sallynoggin culchies? I knew of a guy from there who had no idea where the GPO was when he was asked to meet someone there

FWIW:
I've had the word culchie used towards me in ignorant malicious ways by fools who were probably bigoted in other ways. people who genuinely believe if you are a redneck then you are stupid and they are entitled to abuse you.
This has never happened with 'bogger'. jackeen is only ever used by me in reponse 'culchie' stuff.
in fairness this hasn't happened for donkeys years now.

this idea that ''people from that country / city / county / area / estate / family are all ----------- stereotype'' is total shit.
if you can't think for yerself it doesn't matter where you come from.
