Hi all,
Milkblood studios will have a couple of evening slots each week mainly mon, tues, wed nights where bands can have their set professionally recorded and analysed by a professional engineer.
The idea behind this is that most bands pay €50-€100 for a regular 5-6hr practice with a rubbish PA. What we at Milkblood are trying to do is to improve that practice time and focus on a bands weaknesses and strengths. With the benefit of having a practice recorded on professional equipment it's far easier for a band to have an objective opinion about how their band actually sounds compared to how they assume they sound.
Here's what we'd do in detail at one of the following sessions. 1. The band arrives and setups. 2. The band quickly runs through a couple of songs while the engineer gives the band a headphone mix and adjusts recording levels. 3. The band plays for approx an hr of whatever material. 4. A quick break and a listen back to the set to try and spot improvements that could be made. 5. The band goes back and records the set again this time with changes in mind. 6. The band packs up their equipment while the engineers do a very rough mix of the practice. 7. The session is over and the band is given the session on DVD so they can listen to the session again, or so that can they can try and mix the songs in more detail themselves.
In theory the band would be playing for less time than a normal session but because of the almost gig like feel to the practice, with it being recorded, then it would actually be a more accurate view of the band in a pressurised atmosphere which is what gigs are generally about.
If the above appeals to you then we are offering this service from 7pm til 1am (this time includes band setups and breaks). Milkblood has an extensive equipment list which can be seen below. These sessions will cost €120 and will include engineer. It is assumed bands will bring their own equipment, if not there are very high end amps, guitars, drums for rental at request. All recording equipment and mics are provided by the studio. Get back to us if any of the above interests your band.

PS. this is a great deal as we usually charge around €450 for a days recording.
