Just went to the bank to lodge three cheques and in a fit of feeling rich I bought some Darina Allen Chocolate ice-cream. It is soooo fuckin good. It's got that really good quality chocolate taste - the one that lingers in your mouth for a while. And it's not really that expensive - only 3 something. Ben and Jerry's is much dearer - is it really all that great?

Just so ye know, its the exact same as darina allens. they are made in the same creamery and hers just as her name printed on it.. my days of working in dunnes and my manager telling me all *top secret info*

No way maan. No way. Anyway, I only buy it coz I like to know I'm funding a kiddie porn empire. Maybe that would also happen if I bought Silver Pale but I dunno, the surety isn't there.

There's a lot to be said for working in Dunne's. One of my brothers did when he was a student. He was in the butchery section and by God, the boy knows a good cut of beef when he sees one. Seriously, he has a deadly knowledge of cuts of meat now that will stand to him for all time. What could be more worth knowing?

Might I suggest you try McCambridges chocolate and toasted almond iced cream. It's in the 3.50 euro region, and has a reassuringly small number of ingredients. I also find it superior to, if sweeter than, Darina Allen's offerings.

I personally boycott the whole family of Allen's 'cos it typifies the corruption of the whole cuntry when pricks like that convicted child porn loving scumbag "get off" with a slap on the wrist and a fine. And the family support him.

The Italian ice cream at Botticcelli in Temple Bar brings me unquantifiable joy. A place that can perfect vanilla, the most taken-for-granted of all flavours, is worthy of the highest honours. Mmmmm.....maybe I'll have some tonight. The chocolate and the pistachio are not to be scoffed at, either.

Vanilla is the most difficult flavour to get right. Most vanilla ice cream in this country tastes vaguely of the cardbord or plastic that it comes in...the italians..they know and understand ice cream..afterall the romans invented the stuff.

I can never find plain chocolate Ice cream...not fancy schmancy Darina Allen or Haagen Dasz but good auld plain HB chocolate ice cream.

You can get blocks and tubs of Vanilla, Strawberry, occasionally chocolate chip, but not chocolate.

Surely it's one of the most basic flavours of ice cream that should be widely available ! ! !
