I need advice on an infographic type thingy (1 Viewer)

I doing something at work (unusual I know)
An I'd like to create a diagram showing markets for different things and where these are fulfilled from.
Think something like trade flows

So ideally I'd like a map of the world
Scale circles over America/Europe and Asia showing market volume
and Lines from different locations that I can labels showing where stuff is being made and into which market they are sending it.

There used to be a way to do this in Excel pretty easily but it's gone now

Can anyone suggest a solution that won't break my heart!

That's pretty cool.
I work for raging paranoiacs though - can't see anyone being delighted at my uploading data to the cloud.

You will be hard pressed to find any free software that will do this. You could try Omniscope or Tableau. They'll do 30 day free trials and you could process your data through them. As long as you have geocodes for the locations then you'll be able to do the map.
