Don't forget The Vapors, they were proper into Japan. I guess it was Japan had the new wave fashion down way more than any Westerners would ever dare to. I'm listening to this shit now haha

The bassist from Khruangbin, Laura Lee.
There's a lot to be said for anybody that goes into the hairdresser and asks for a Dora the Explorer.
Everything about her is closing in on perfection.
I feel like I’m busting your balls these days, but that’s a wig. Same as the singer in that band.

What do you think of them musically? Part of me admires the groove and unhurriedness of it, and attention to the craft, and half of me thinks they are just elevator music in wigs.

Oh yeah? You've always seemed sound to me, but I'm not great at noticing ball busting.
I suspected it was a wig alright. She just seems very happy.

I think a couple of their tracks a bit dodgy, but I like their stuff on the whole. Also, they are unbelievably tight... like, have a look at this:

The tightness just fills me with feelings, or something. When they come back in at ~2.34 the way the drummer and her exchange a tiny smirk, just from the joy of nailing it.

There was a comment on that youtube along the lines of: the Drummer is what NIST calibrates their atomic clocks on.

I just felt bad that I challenged you calling that fuckwit in the White House ‘sentient’ and now telling you her hair ain’t real.

Yes, I do appreciate how insanely tight they are, and how much they love playing. I just feel it’s a bit bland overall, a bit of a one trick pony. I should sit down and listen to an album in full.

Another thing I noticed is that picture just over her right shoulder of an otter DJ-ing on what looks like a Fisher-Price turntable, who's also killing it.

If I could get a t-shirt of DJ Otter I'd be very happy with myself altogether.

I wish I had loads of really expensive wigs, would very happily become a wig girl.
