there's probably a good sci-fi idea there (which someone has already exploited) about a future where GM fungus is out of control, eating all sorts of concrete and plastic, collapsing buildings and just being a buzzkill..

The Salmon of Knowledge - and remember the Biblical sense of “to know” is “to ride”.

All this reminds me of when I did an animal handling course years ago and the book had a section on sampling tissue from animals (blood, urine, etc.). For sperm, it mentioned that it could be obtained from dogs using digital stimulation. I walked around for about a week wondering what kind of machine that was before I remembered what digits were.
