i changed gmail, facebook and dropbox

paypal, amazon, ebay and UK bank websites weren't affected and the ramifications of someone getting into my thumped account would be more entertaining than worrying

Yeah, I have that too. I think it's just for the hardware itself.

That said, computers may as well be in the realm of magic for all I understand them.

If someone got into my Thumped account I think they'd probably buy me a dictionary, put a few bob in my bank account and send a mental health professional to my address.
