Hardware Drum Machines vs. Software Drums (1 Viewer)

i have an electribe. however, i was never happy with anything i got out of it.
even starting from scratch i always seem to end up with something that sounds like Basshunter.
on bad days, more like Who's Eddie

can anyone recommend either a good hardware or software drum machine
something with a bit of afrobeat potential would be nice

this is completely obvo, but have you tried piling/layering up the drum synth parts on the electribe on top of each other?

The drum electribe is basically a synth made for drums. Sounds like you're looking for a drum machine based on samples as opposed to synthesis. Maybe try the sampling electribe, that way you can lash in whatever drum sounds you want, and also tweak it to death. They're great machines! Also try running drum machines through guitar pedals and/or overdriven amps

funnily enough, i just twigged that and i think that's reason that i don't like it (synthesis rather than samples)
you ever try the Akai mpc 500? i think that might be the one for me
