Great hip-hop albums of our time (2 Viewers)

I only really like instrumental or mostly instrumental hip hop, not sure if that counts.

PJ Shadow - Entroducing...
Prefuse 73 - vocal studies & uprock narratives
Prefuse 73 - one word exthinguisher
Prefuse 73 - the 92 vs 02 ep
Prefuse 73 - Exthinguished outakes
He gets very unfocused after this...

So what do we think of Kendrick winning the Pulitzer? Has this been done elsewhere? I didn't even know there was a Pulitzer prize for music until today

Honestly, its hard to care, the Pulitzer for Music needs his publicity about a thousand times more than he needs theirs.

I remember liking most of Handsome boy modelling school - So, how's your girl? (1999)

The loop is from cold coffee by Galt McDermott.
There's a bit of Jibber jabbering near the end.

Three Houston gangstas from the 5th Ward Posse - Scarface, Bushwick Bill and Willie D (The Gangster of Love) put Texas on the map with very OTT stuff but with some more reality moments (the amazing My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me @ 15:49). The instrumentals are deceptively simple but highly effective. The album's only real fault is that it tails off slightly with the last few tracks.
There was a lot of controversy about their previous album, especially the song Mind Of A Lunatic - an extremely OTT serial killer fantasy that no one in a post EMINEM world would take seriously now. The Boys use the title track to settle a few scores and wind up their enemies (inc. censors, pressing plants, the media and Geffen Records).
The Gulf War tune Fuck A War (@ 29:13) by the late Bushwick Bill is as good an anti war song as I've ever heard (in 1990 for a short while people were worried the draft might be brought back after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait)
Bushwick (the small guy who died of pancreatic cancer) was a highly intelligent man whose interviews show someone very different to the belligerent characters in his songs.
The photo on the cover is real.
