I've only dipped my toe in and out of this genre down the years but, of late, have started becoming more and more interested in it. Probably because of the Run The Jewels album from last year (serious 10/10 stuff). And, of course, Wu-Tang Clan's appearance in thumped album club.

I know there are others way more knowledgeable on hip-hop here. So, what are the truly great albums out there? I could just google I suppose, but finding out this way gives the opportunity to give out to people if I don't agree with them.

I'm no authority, but these are constants for me:

Hello @scutter, hip-hop is one of my favourite things, and I would offer up Mos Def's Black on Both Sides, from the beginning to the end, I believe it to be a masterpiece. There are so many others, and will return to this asap, but thought I would put that one out there, as it hadn't been mentioned yet. I also have a fidelity to labels, El-P's old one - Def Jux, released consistently brilliant records, also, the now defunct Rawkus Records, and the west-coast based Stones Throw has a high-level quality output, under the watchful eye of Peanut Butter Wolf.
