My favourite guitar solo is the first solo (by Richard Lloyd I think) on Marquee Moon by Television. Obviously the long groovy Verlainian solo is sweet as well but that first one is so damn concise and beautiful.

See also Time, Money, second Comfortably Numb solo by Gilmour. That man could tear a hole in the space-time continuum with a Strat.

I stand by my claim. Their solos are certainly professionally executed but they lack emotion and soul. Perhaps this was a deliberate aesthetic decision to set the mechanical and sterile solos off against philo's soulful voice however it didn't really work.
