Great Guitar Solos (1 Viewer)

One my favourite old school metal solos is Metallica's Shortest Straw.

You should probably give that one a miss then.
It's as widdley as they come.

The solo on The Unforgiven would probably be their best, least widdley one.

Having said that, I haven't listened to anything post-"Load".

Some of the best solos ive come across are:

John Petrucci - Curve

Dream theater - Under a glass moon, As I am, fatal tragedy

Black Label Society - Stillborn, life birth blood doom

Carcass - Blood splattered banners

Pantera - Domination, cemetary gates, all the solos on power metal are serious shreddage

Children of bodom - Wrath within, kissing the shadows, lil blood red ridin hood

Testament - Electric crown

Sepultura - Subtraction

Slayer - Seasons in the abyss

Ill be back later.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Riot in the Dungeon. (the opening note is amazing)
Black Sabbath - Tony Iommi - Neon Nights (again the opening note is amazing)
Megadeth - Marty Friedman - Tornado of Souls
Queen - Brian May - Killer Queen

The best is of course the second solo in War Pigs by Black Sabbath. derrrr nerr nerr nerrr de-ne-ner ner. (If anyone mentions Pearl Jam I will punch them).

Most Marillion fans consider this to be Rothery's best solo. I actually don't think that but it is a goodun.

yeah, love Nels Cline!

great solos:

Skunk Baxter has three solos on Steely Dan's "My Old School", and the third one is amazing - and sort of funny, too!

Jimmy Page's solo on Black Dog ,though short enough, is pure energy, pure distilled sexuality and dripping black goo. Also on Whole Lotta Love - only about ten seconds long. Nobody did that stuff better.

Jay Graydons solo on Peg by Steely Dan,
Testify - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Hangar 18 - Megadeth
Brighton Rock - Queen

The solos on Europe's Final Countdown and Kiss's Crazy Nights are great, silly metal it's best

I love the subtle little solo on The Strangler's Golden Brown

How are my apsotrophe's?

You should write a book..

Apostrophe Catastrophes, By Snakelike M. Ominibus

Back to solos- Rory Gallaghers' slide solo after the pause in Cradle Rock
