Been listening to a lot of mix CDs recently, and I've been loving a lot of them. In particular Immer by Michael Mayer, unbelievable!

Others that I've enjoyed include,

Fabric 29: Tiefshcwarz
DJ Kicks: Booka Shade
DJ Kicks: Modeselektor
Please Please Please: Tobias Tomas
Fabric 36: Ricardo Villalobos

Any other classic dance mixes out there I should get my mits on?

Coldcut's Journeys by DJ entry, 70 Minutes of Madness, is probably still my favourite. The two Blech mixes on Warp are also great. A few others that come to mind:

DJ/rupture, Minesweeper Suite
Ellen Allien, Weiss.Mix
Richie Hatwin, Decks, EFX & 909
Jeff Mills, Live at the Liquid Room, Tokyo

My favourite mix album of the past year was Stereo Test Record by God's Boyfriend on Dublin's very own Go Away Recordings. It's downloadable here:

Planetary Natural Love Gas Webbin' 199999999 by DJ Pica Pica Pica, alias eYe from Boredoms is the best mix album ever.
I'm also partial to Waiwan's one from a few years back, I think it's called Musical Paths and Rhythms. Layo & Bushwacka's Psychedelic Research Lab is great too.

DJ /Rupture's side of "the bidoun sessions" is the best mix set i have heard. it's a fucking nuclear warhead of invigoration. his "minesweeper suite" and "gold teeth thief" sets are very nice as well, though they tend to meander somewhat in places.

echo Coldcut

I very rarely buy mix cds anymore since you can get so many livesets/dj sets from all genres on the web. For example, i bought a "Tectonics Plate" dubstep mix cd recently enough but it's a bit of a waste of money when you consider whats available here or here! My money now goes on buying mp3s of individual tracks instead.

Anyway, favourite mix cd that i've bought is the first "World Service" by Dave Clarke. Both the electro and techno cds are excellent.

do the ones you download have gaps between the tracks?

That really interrupts a mix or live set [which would be seamless on a CD]
I'm also not fond of continuous mixes with no indexing [i.e. one 80 min song]

any way around it?

No gaps between the tracks - they always are uploaded as one long track. I imagine that there is a way of tagging individual tracks on the mix but i'm not sure how to do it.

spot on with the Coldcut recommendation photon. Richie Hawtins Mixmag vol. 20 is another old classic mix cd.

Most of the Fabrics are pretty good- Michael Mayers (13) and Craig Richards (1) particularly.

Mayer has brought out Immer 2 as wll now although i havent listened to it yet.

Matthew Herbert Globus Vol.5 is wworth picking up...

mix i've been listening to mostly though is from Mano Le Tough. Quality mix from start to finisah: http://www.hangtough.net/music/mano_le_tough-waking_the_witch.mp3
