General Election 2016 (1 Viewer)

AAA-PBP were today labeled "the alphabet soup" on the radio by some FGer.

Obviously the fger is a fan of Eleanor friedberger's son false alphabet city ;) and making a cunning reference to it

Seriously though, I've only seen alphabet soup referee as a way to disparage lgbt+ before this

Are both socialist party TDs that are standing, Murphy and coppinger, running under AAA banner?

Various articles I've seen in newspapers my parents buy put them separately but they are the one and same, aren't they?

AAA-PBP is a ridiculous name in fairness. Surely they could have come up with something simpler.
@IFF - Wikipeadia says

The Anti-Austerity Alliance and People Before Profit Alliance will organise separately and remain free to maintain different political positions on various issues, but they will cooperate electorally while maintaining their own identities and structures

Eddie Hutch senior has been shot dead in Dublin's north inner city - Independent.ie

And another related shooting in Tallaght if FM104 are correct

I wonder how big an issue this will be regarding the election. FG were attempting to link the IRA (and by extension SF) to Friday's shooting yet for the 'party of law and order' to be governing as the Gardai seem unable to deal with serious crime surely opens them to criticism. The minister seems to be sitting on her hands, and as before, the Gardai are either under-resourced, not wholly concerned or just plain incompetent.

They really should stop lying their way through this campaign. The fiscal space thing was stupid enough. The Ira thing was so implausible yet media still ran with it. Fg could probably have just said 'vote for the occasional middle class perk' and walked this. A promise for a 2016 repeal the 8th referendum would seal the youth deal.

If that's your big thing, then you probably should be voting labour really as they're the most unambiguously pro-choice mainstream party, but they're gonna get destroyed.

(It is a big deal for me, but I'm not voting for them, not #1 anyway)

SF & Socdems are also backing the referendum. The Renua candidate near where I work is pro 8th aswell.

Its not really my big thing. I remain apolitical. I was more pointing out the levels of Derp in the FG campaign.

SF kinda talk out of both sides of their mouth on it a bit though don't they? They have at least one very pro-life TD and McGuinness is on record as saying they're not a pro-abortion party.

The line I got when I spoke to one of them last week was that they are in favour of a referendum - so yes, dodging the question on an individual basis. I referendum is probably the best we will get out of any part this time round.

I'm not defending Sinn Feins stance on the matter but surely being pro choice and pro abortion are very different things.

Turns out some guy i've never heard of who's running as an independent in my constituency has almost identical views as I have on almost everything. Well you live and learn.

Poor ol' Maureen O'Sullivan and my secret girlfriend Mary Lou didn't get a look in.
