______________________SATURDAY_________________________
Saturday line-up epicness at its best.
With an NME Best British Band 2012 award and four albums under their belt, KASABIAN will headline the main stage at Forbidden Fruit on Saturday night – a relatively small festival for an act who headlined Reading Festival and T in the Park amongst others last summer. The indie rockers promise to bring the audience to new heights with their ripping guitar riffs and raging onstage presence.
CRYSTAL CASTLES will also take to main stage in Kilmainham to showcase their signature experimental electronic beats. Having recently been nominated for NME Best International Band 2013, a new album on the shelves and a string of international dates, the duo is sure to thrill existing fans and show the newbies what they are all about.
JAMES BLAKE will bring his haunting electronic sound to the grounds of Kilmainham, this June. With new single ‘Retrograde’ receiving rave reviews and a nomination for British Male Solo Artist 2012, Blake will not disappoint.
For the first time since 2008, NEON NEON make their surprise return to Ireland. Following their Mercury-shortlisted first album of 2008 'Stainless Style', Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip’s second album 'Praxis Makes Perfect' in the pipeline and due for release in April of this year.
Godfather of dub reggae, LEE SCRATCH PERRY will return with his funky presence and sound having taken the main stage at Electric Picnic 2012 with Max Romeo by storm. The Grammy Award-winning dub pioneer is currently touring the US.
This June will see the mysterious Swedish act IAMAMIWHOAMI perform in Ireland for the first time. In a haze of anonymity, the electronic multimedia duo came on the music scene with a collection of youtube videos that went viral in 2012, and they released the album ‘Kin’; an audio visual project with each track accompanied by a related video. A visually and audibly outstanding performance is expected from this intriguing pair.
Back by popular demand, Dublin’s LE GALAXIE were one of the talking points of Forbiddne Fruit 2012 and we were indundated with requests to bring them back this year. The band have made quite a name for themselves since they first appeared on the scene back in 2008. Now a few years, a sky-high pile of rave reviews and many- many gigs later, there is one thing everyone will agree on, synth champions Le Galaxie know how to please the crowd.
The 11-piece orchestra of KORMAC’S BIG BAND will bring to Forbidden Fruit their interpretation of main man Kormac’s tracks. The band makes their sound with an array of instruments and media, creating a unique experience and with Glastonbury, Bestival, the Electric Picnic and Body & Soul festivals and a tour with Portishead, The Flaming Lips, Death in Vegas and Beardyman under their belt, the band will not fail to produce the goods.
Alternative Irish rockers known for their energetic performances, FIGHT LIKE APES will burst on the stage at Forbidden Fruit on 1[SUP]st[/SUP] June. The five-piece has been nominated for an array of awards; five Meteor Music Awards and a Choice Music Prize to name a few. They were named the fourth best Irish musical act of their generation by The Irish Times and in 2011, their album ‘The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner’ was nominated for the Choice Music Prize.
The disco – but not pop disco - TIERANNIESAUR are unlike anything else on the Dublin indie scene, and are sure to pack some hefty poppy punches on stage in Kilmainham, this June.
Belfast four-piece, GIRLS NAMES, is becoming ‘a band for all seasons’ according to Pitchfork. And with new album ‘ The New Life’ just released and the reputation they have made as an ‘enthralling’ band to watch live band, Forbidden Fruit goers are sure to be impressed with their expansive sound of their post-punk.
Marcus Goodwin of Bulmers said, “Anyone who made it to Bulmers Forbidden Fruit in 2012 will understand the unique appeal of this urban festival, right in the heart of Dublin. With such diversity of music, comedy, the arts, and food, there’s a really great vibe to Forbidden Fruit and Bulmers will again do its bit for festival goers by laying on a bus to make the festival experience even more enjoyable and accessible. Packed into the June Bank Holiday weekend, we look forward to Forbidden Fruit kick-starting a real Bulmers summer.”
Declan Forde of Pod said “We’re excited and delighted with the bill this year. Getting an act of the stature of Kasabian is a real coup and we’re fortunate that they wanted to play what is a relatively small festival for them. As with the previous two years, we’ve aimed to keep the bill for Forbidden Fruit as interesting and diverse throughout the two days from start to finish. Roll on June 1[SUP]st[/SUP] & 2[SUP]nd[/SUP].”
