The Edmund Fitzgerald, along with their peers Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, have been the one of the most impressive, forward-thinking bands Oxford has had to offer over the last few years. After a small break, due to the loss of a band member, they're back with a new name, three new members and an adaptation of their previously irregular time signatures, angular guitar interplay and dissonance, to try and create the 'future of pop music'. - diskant.net
"Combining bubbling polyrhymic guitars, aching vocal melodies and dance oriented drumlines; they create upbeat (allbeit off-kilter) pop songs with a real Jekyll and Hyde complex. foals is the coming together of three Oxford bands Face Meets Grill (split), The Edmund Fitzgerald and Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies. The band will be in good company releasing their debut 7" on the fantastic Try Harder Records (Tired Irie / Blood Red Shoes) in early 2006. Foals have previously played alongside Hella, Oxes, and Battles and this is the first time they've played in Ireland. Support on the night comes from Trails, Cap Pas Cap and Envelope.
