Favourite album/song/gig of 2017? (1 Viewer)

How did I forget LCD in the Olympia. Definitely my gig of the year.

I was, in fairness, kidding. Nicki Minaj is awesome.

You'd want to be taking a hard look at yourself if you don't like Vanity 6 though.

Hello gang,
I hope that 2018 is a good year for you all.

Here are my selections, there are so many, but these instantly leap out;

Concert: Run the Jewels, Olympia / Radiohead, the Point / Primavera Sound
Album: Sleep Well Beast - The National/ Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith - The Kid/ The Animal Spirits - James Holden
Song: Carin at the Liquor Store - The National/ Imagining my Man - Aldous Harding / Future Forever - Bjork/ Nothing But Love - I am the Cosmos
Television: Twin Peaks - The Return
Book: This is Memorial Device, by David Keenan

(y)

Concert: Einstürzende Neubauten in London
Album: Neil Young Hitchhiker
Song: Carla Del Forno “We Shouldn’t Have to Wait”
TV show: Twin Peaks
Film: The Dark Tower*

*This was actually terrible but I didn’t see any other films in 2017 (well, I did but they were all old films).

Only listened to a couple of albums released in 2017 in 2017, I reckon Randy Newman's album was probably the best of the ones I listened to.

My favourite song was Mitski's Your Best American Girl. It drips of the 1990s. (Hmmm it appears this actually came out in 2016 but I didn't hear it until 2017....)

Her show in Whelan's comes a close second to Josh Ritter in Vicar St for my gig of the year.

I'm still banging out and finding tunes from last year. I suspect Ill be for a while, very slow to these bands.

I really like them. There's a killer tune on their first album called Marry Me Archie that's worth having a listen to if you don't know it.
