Modern rockabillies The Bellfuries do a great cover of Richard Hawley's 'Just like the Rain'

I would love to see him try

I suppose Body Count's version of Institutionalized (Suicidal T.)
has been mentioned here ?
it's great fun. the verses refer to Ice T's contemporary life
instead of Mike Muir 35 years ago.

i can't be arsed posting links but some of my favourite covers are :

Cirlcle Jerks - Wild in the Streets (Garland Jeffreys)
- the only song I like on a disappointing second LP

Le Scrawl - Good Times (Chic) 1995
grindcore/jazz band version of disco classic (original is one of
my favourite tunes as well). these Berlin lads were just called
Scrawl at the time which wasn't clever as there was the Ohio band on major label called Scrawl at same time.

Projectile Afterbirth - Jennifer Jones (Larry Fischer) 1993
a noisecore cum power electronics version of Wild Man Fischer classic from his first LP in 1969 includes samples of
the original. the three song 7" of Fischer covers - Hats Off To Larry also contains versions of Which Way Did The Freaks Go and Merry-Go-Round.
Projectile Afterbirth planned a second EP of Bananarama
but unfortunately released no more material.
this EP isn't on Youtube sadly.

Technically not a cover, but since it's about 28 years since he recorded the original, and over 15 years since he left the band, and the original is one of the best songs ever, it gets in...

Completely forgot about this until it popped into my head for no apparent reason on the way to work...
