Excel Question (1 Viewer)

New excel question here:

Say a cell is the result of a complicated formula, "=D23+(B23*7)-1" for example. Which is a date.

Is there a way to convert the contents that cell to just the date that is in that cell, ie not the result of the formula?

Thanks nerds.

Right click cell - Format cell - date, surely?

I use Open Office more than Excel, but it'll be something like that.

no, that's not it. That keeps the formula. I want to get rid of the formula.

if the formula results in 10/12/2023, I want the cell to have no formula but still say 10/12/2023.

Oh right.
There is something in format menu that lets you do that. IIRC, do what I said, then format again to say text only or something.

It definitely can be done, I'm just rusty.

Turns out you can do it with a VBA function [PutResult()] to copy a formula’s output to another cell, but I wouldn’t bother.
