Comedy lineup announced

The rolling lawns of Stradbally Estate will once again ring with the sound of mirth and hilarity as the best of Irish and International talent take to the boards of the comedy tent at this year’s festival. For many the comedy stage is the highlight of the weekend and no matter what your taste in humour, 2010’s line up has something to tickle even the most rheumatied of funny bones. Its gonna be a hoot!

There can be little doubt that Gift Grub has been both the critical and commercial success story of the year and the obscenely talented Mario Rosenstock brings his myriad of characters, voices and wickedly subversive satirical comedy to Stradbally to headline on both Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September. American superstar Reginald D Hunter who is one of the most engaging, brutally honest and provocative stand-up comics in the world jets in for an exclusive performance on the Sunday.

Those of a gentler persuasion are sure to enjoy the universal observational humour of the Irishman from down under Jim Eoin and the world weary musings of 'Fr. Ted' star Ardal O’Hanlon. Fans of improvisational comedy are in for a treat when the world’s finest practitioners of the art Stephen Frost Improv Allstars will be joined on stage by special guest and 'Buzzcocks' team captain Phil Jupitus for two different shows on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Fresh from another triumphant run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Ed Byrne is sure to woo even the most committed of hecklers whilst the razor sharp wit of Colin Murphy and multi award winning Canadian comic Glenn Wool are certain to be a festival highlight.

Fans of musical comedy are well catered for in the shape of the wonderfully original supergroup Dead Cat Bounce and loveable Limerick hoodlums The Rubberbandits. With the best of homegrown talent which includes amongst others such stalwarts as Joe Rooney, Karl Spain, Eleanor Tiernan, Dermot Whelan, Brendan Burke and newcomers like Danny Dowling and Gerry McBride, all held together by your MCs for the weekend, the escaped duracell bunnies that are Andrew Stanley and Damian Clarke it promises to be the best gigglefest ever.
