i finally finished* my workbench tonight. having a decent way of clamping wood makes life so much easier. now i'll have to make good on that threat to make an electric guitar body.

*i'll probably add a shelf underneath for storage, but for woodworking functionality, it's essentially done,

**oh yeah, and i'll probably drill it for bench dogs too.

JR; is a japanese rasp a 'no brainer' tool, have you found? wondering if i should order one.

I would say so if you ever do any shaping, radiusing etc. I’ve found it indispensable. Also very useful for slimming down pieces quickly.

Id put it on a par with the block plane as the most useful tool that isn’t an absolutely bog standard hammer, chisel, saw etc

not in stock at the moment in naas - was that where you got yours?
