ConSequences

A series of events moving away from the typical teleological narrative towards programmed nights of fierce ruling rave-up styles, begrudging techno, upfront jungle, broken industrial, hardcore uproar, electro-nix for the floor...there are no ConSequences...this is #1…

ConSequences #1

Samuel Kerridge - LIVE [Downwards / Horizontal Ground - Berlin]

Making his Irish debut after a year of killer performances at spaces such as Unsound Festival & Berghain and with his debut album ‘A Fallen Empire’ on Downwards already sold out & gone for repress, Samuel Kerridge will be unleashing his drenched/distortion live techno set with no fear of the consequences...

Samuel Kerridge has quickly made a name for himself, responsible for one of 2012's most remarkable and self assured debuts 'Auris Interna' on the ultra-picky Horizontal Ground. This didn't go unnoticed by Karl O'Connor (Regis), and Samuel followed with two incredible critically acclaimed EP's and an album on Downwards. Kerridge has found a perfect home for his highly original productions of unfettered sonic exploration, re-defining the relationship between rhythm and sound design with decimating kick drums and feedback, and unearthly amounts of distortion until you're left with a dripping, toxic style of techno. With influences including The Velvet Underground & Pink Floyd, it's not from Detroit, but it's more about where Kerridge is at – creating seductive, darkly soulful music....

    • Film Screening: Tape Crackers: An Oral History of Jungle Pirate Radio by Rollo Jackson

Kicking off the night we have ‘Tape Crackers: An Oral History of Jungle Pirate Music' - an affectionate, touching, and, at times, incredibly funny, tale of bedroom obsessiveness. Tape Crackers' is a vital documentary focussed on one guy, Michael Finch, and his amazing tape collection of pirate radio recordings made in the mid-late '90s. The premise is basic: place Michael and some of his most prized c90s in front of the camera and let the man talk. You can just see memories wash over him with each tape he puts on.. Apart from all the anecdotes and recollections - including a really nice overview of London's Junglist pirate radio scene of the mid 90's (even touching on the birth of Rinse), what you really get from Tape Crackers is a snapshot of a bygone era and one man's obsession with it - and it just makes for utterly compelling viewing. Big thanks to Rollo (@rollojackson) for the screening permissions.

DJ pressure coming through the night from the following heavyweights in no particular order...

      • DJ Ricky Force [Pressin’ Hard / Ruff Revival]

Ricky Force's story began back in 1999 when he landed a guest slot on legendary Dublin pirate station POWER FM alongside Don Rosco of the Bassbin crew. Quickly moving through the ranks of the Jungle Republic with radio, DJ gigs, festival appearances & promoting (REACH) Force’s styles showcase a wide range of Drum and Bass , from blissed-out atmospheric rollers to darker old school tearouts and all points between.

Ricky started producing in 2005 and has been sending quakes through the Jungle scene and Parnell St. in equal measures ever since with standout releases & remixes on Ruff Revival, Pinecone Moonshine & his own cultra-limited Pressin' Hard Records which are going up in value quicker than a Bitcoin on O’Connell St.

        • Giles Armstrong [Electric City] ‘92 - ‘96 Techno Set

Giles is a man who needs no introduction, and this time we mean it. Delving deep into his My Documents folder and filtering by year, Giles is going to tear up the timeless techno sounds of this vintage period with a choice selection of fierce tracks from the UK, Europe & America. The man’s style is faultless, his selections impeccable & tonight, Matthew, he’s going back to the foundations...do not miss!

IKaboogie founder, DJ, producer, promoter, Richie !K is the bass renaissance man. Throwing !killer parties through the years featuring diverse heavyweights such as Emptyset, Lakker, Photodemnetia, DJ Mek, NHKyx, Automatic Tasty, Machinedrum, Remarc and moar home-grown Irish DJ and production talent, the common ground is BASS heaviness and jump-up excitement. • Sonel [All City Records / Cutting Moments]

The man with plan behind the All City Counters, Sonel is as skilled at shifting the tunes as he is in rolling them out on the turntables. A regular man about town, bringing the dj pressure, he’s going to be doing a set under the mysterious Cutting Moments project ….sick, dark, griming, slowburning, deep-seeping techno, noise and electro-nix. Yes.
