On 20th December we host the first annual Emigrant Disco - a get together for locals and the returning diaspora, and as such have programmed an evening of music representing both that we’re really proud of.
Headlining the event are DIMMAN, the new band from Richie Egan (Jape/Redneck Manifesto) and Matthew Bolger (Redneck Manifesto). Currently both based in Malmö, Sweden (DIMMAN means, 'the fog' in the Swedish language) they describe DIMMAN as an effortless expression of their friendship - a result of their two individual timings creating a third. Their music is sparser than their other music ventures; Jape and The Redneck Manifesto yet still has the inherent melodious quality the permeates their other projects.
Representing the home city are White Collar Boy.
The Duo who formed in 2011 after a chance meeting at the Primavera Sound festival and have been producing house music drenched in euphony ever since. After a bit of a break this is their first live show in over 6 months and they tell us they’ll be previewing a huge amount of new material pencilled for that as yet untitled forthcoming LP which will be released next year.
Completing our live trilogy is London based, Derry born act Shocko. Similar to contemporaries like Joy Orbison, Jamie XX and Julio Bashmore, he would be loosely filed under the rather unpleasant sounding ‘uk bass/post dubstep’ category while still retaining a broad sound of his own - erudite sample usage collide with tension building beats and melancholic chords.
We also have DJ sets from Great Lakes Mystery, Jon Averill (Shock World Service), Louise Doyle (Discotekken/Telephones) and John Mahon (The Locals/Telephones)
