I meant ambitious more in a financial way. The were/are blatant about wanting to be the biggest band in the world and act almost like a corporation. I think that's why a lot of people don't like them.

Yeah I suppose but,

I wouldn't define that as amitious so much as greedy or self centred. That genuinely isn't a particularly Irish trait. At least not amongst the working or most of the middle classes anyway.

Lets be honest that's not why people dislike them, and by "them" I mean Bono, no one seems to give a fuck about the other 3. They hate him because he takes massive amounts of money with one hand and with the other one has his hat in it, playing the role of a supplicant imploring the rest of us give what little we have to whichever charity du jour he's flogging while the cunt sits on a pile of money not paying tax.

If Jay Z were Irish we'd just say fair play to him, we'd call him a lucky cunt behind his back alright, what with his billions in the bank and Beyonce on his arm and his endless supply of decent hats, but he's not patronising us every chance he fuckng gets is he ?
