Four D batteries in a wet sock is probably what you would be looking for Pantone.

You are certainly on the right track with the shower alright, a quick rinse afterwards before any drying of the blood splatters can occur makes things easier, but you might also want to see if you can get surgical gloves for the "main event". Just to keep under the nails clean etc.
