Maybe some of you are already at this lark, or can tell me if anyone else has floated the idea -
But any Thumpders interested in getting together for a cycle now and again to get a kind of semi-regular cycle meet-up going?
No Tour De France style lycra ensembles now (though very welcome i'm sure), just a few heads getting together for a nice easy afternoon cycle somewheres. Peeps could bring packed lunches and make a nice few hours of it. What say ye to the idea?
Yea or Nay?

you should all meet me after work each day and escort me home.

that would be class :)

just so yis know, some cycling clubs have two spins, the racer boys, and the Touring crew. Not that I'm saying that a Thumped club shouldn't start going out for spins, just the bigger the group the more fun you'll have.

In the winter, the Touring crew tend to get joined by the racing boys, and they'll tend to drive the pace along at a bit of a clip, but in the summer I believe the Touring crew take it very handy.
The Sorrento club (used to and still might) meet at the Sallynoggin Roundabout, in front of a greengrocers (for all your banana purchasing needs). They will take you out on a deadly spin, the boys and girls know tons of nice roads, and its a class buzz riding in a group like that. I really loved riding with the racing crew, tearing through towns in Wicklow at a ferocious pace, but riding in the winter with the Tourers is class too.

when i bought my road bike years ago, a friend who would go for a 20 mile spin with some mates on a saturday morning, invited me along.
but his usual mates couldn't make it, so a bunch of lads from the finglas ravens (training for the ras) came along. i got home 67 miles later. i was broked.

if you're able to hang with boys training for the Ras for 67 miles you're doing well. I rode with a few lads doing that. They'd basically destroy you at will.

they took it easy on my account. i was quite proud though, of being able to keep up. main issue was that because i thought we'd only be out for an hour, i'd brought no food along.

Fair play, Travis

Does anyone know if the Critical Mass thing ever took off in Dublin?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Mass

they used to happened a a good bit when i lived there a few years ago but i haven't heard anything about them for quite a while.(but as i said i don't live there anymore) it was quite a lot of fun....but often ended up with drivers knocking people of their bikes or the like.

often tied in with reclaim the streets.when they happened.

used to find out about them because someone would tie a flyer type thing to peoples handlebars saying where and when to gather.

on a related note these people often organised events back then and would always be on the critical mass
