Hey, so we've a couple of Groom gigs coming up this week. We've a new album coming out in the summer so these are the first we've had in a few months, what with babies and popical business and whatnot.
Thurs May 22, Grand Social
We're playing a fundraiser for my kids' school, Griffith Barracks Multidenominational School this Thursday. The school needs the cash, what with it falling down around our ears and kids having to be in prefabs while they chew on their tofu. It's like, pretty much a school for hippies and has an excellent parental/community involvement in keeping it going -- hence this gig. And lest you think it's just a bunch of dads with guitars all I can say is these are pretty cool dads with guitars (and moms too I guess), self excluded of course, I'm as nerdy as ever. Tenner in, worthy cause, and if yer into the idea of kids from various backgrounds being educated together (though it's not actually got the ET status) this is where it's at.
Friday May 23rd, Liquor Rooms
We're playing as part of the Dublin Writers' Festival, and specifically the night bit that's being curated by Young Hearts Run Free. During the day Alasdair Roberts is playing in the Douglas Hyde Gallery and that in itself is extremely exciting. But then in the evening, the Liquor Rooms on Wellington Quay is gonna have writer Pat McCabe, Donal Lunny, Barry McCormack, Groom and Women's Christmas, as well as Young Hearts DJs. Should be great great great. Oh and it's FREE IN.
