I think it's just to control behaviour. People will tend to have their meal and leave within the required time, instead of skulling pints and becoming unpredictable in their behaviour.Can someone explain the thinking behind making people buy a meal with their drinks in Irish pubs? Yeah but all that carry on of people mixing, lashing pints, getting rowdy has not happening here and the pubs have been open for months. At least in my experience.I guess if you are having food, you are just staying on the group you came in. If you are drinking, you circulate more and have fun with others.
