The original version of classic Christmas song Fairytale of New York is not banned at the BBC
BBC Radio 1 will play an edited version of Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl this year, while Radio 2 will continue to play the original version of the song. BBC 6 Music DJs and regional stations are free to play either version. The edited version of the song has been provided by the record company and replaces a word considered a homophobic slur with an alternative taken from a live performance by MacColl recorded before her death.

It's still the funniest thing ever that in 2010 George Michael decided that now was the time to release his big christmas song everyone will be singing each year


and a lovely, sad song it is too
