christmas (1 Viewer)

I love Christmas.

The child is a king, the carollers sing,
The old has passed, there’s a new beginning.
Dreams of santa, dreams of snow,
Fingers numb, faces aglow.

Christmas time, mistletoe and wine
Children singing christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time for rejoicing in all that we see

A time for living, a time for believing
A time for trusting, not deceiving,
Love and laughter and joy ever after,
Ours for the taking, just follow the master.

Christmas time, mistletoe and wine
Children singing christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time for rejoicing in all that we see

A time for giving, a time for getting,
A time for forgiving and for forgetting.
Christmas is love, christmas is peace,
A time for hating and fighting to cease.

Christmas time, mistletoe and wine
Children singing christian rhyme
With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree
A time for rejoicing in all that we see

No I do. I love Christmas. Lots of time off work/school, my nieces and nephew being cute, my birthday, the Thumped party, tons of scrummy food, my mothers exposure to her children's capacity for booze. Yay. All good.

the original roman pagan festival of saturnalia was celebrated in or around what is now known as the 25th of December, give or take calendar adjustments. set on the winter solstice, celebrations included

merry-making
rest and relaxation
connections with family and friends
celebrating beginning of Solar year
prayers for protection of Winter crops
honoring Deities

i tried to get my parents to celebrate the winter solstice instead of christmas once, but it wasn't a goer.

yeah...um well sweet for you... try being poor, none of your family care, being 17 and getting the blame for your family's down fall....

you have an attitude problem, my love. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and try and be more positive.

definitely try the saturnalia thing, darknothing. if the crops fail, you may even get to make a sacrifice. animals are fine, but their acceptability is limited. a small child is even better, but not NEARLY as effective as the right kind of adult.

i dunno, sounds pretty like every regular christmas to me.

merry-making - check!
rest and relaxation - check!
connections with family and friends - check!
celebrating beginning of Solar year - check!
honoring Deities - check!
prayers for protection of Winter crops - dammit, there's always something you forget. i don't suppose singing along with the Sound of Music counts?

No thanks. Much prefer my version. Sorry to hear about yours, but trying to make people feel sorry for you all the time is doing your thumped cred no favours, young lady. I think I'll give you some rep for Christmas.
