this one is a little different to the first. for one thing, my crackely old voice isn't on this one, and all the tracks are mixed together. a bit like a dj set, except you wont be able to dance to it. unless there is something wrong with you! :)

info:

1. Hans Reichel: le bal

An example of the daxophone, an instrument consisting of several wooden ruler-like strips which are plucked and bowed invented by Reichel, based on the sonic range of the badger. One of the most amazing things you will hear: the voice-like qualities of this instrument are truly incredible.

2. The Broken Penis Orchestra featuring The Slimy Singing Slit Sisters: pulling it out.

Taken from their utterly hilarious Oral Copulation album, producer Dick Flick and guest conductor Ernie Balls weave a very filthy and very funny tapestry of voice.

3. Diarmuaid MacDiarmada: the mills of god, part four.

An excerpt from possibly the greatest and most entertaining cut-up album I have heard.

4. John Duncan: power love

A field recording of a Thai ritualistic piece of a relentlessly life-affirming nature by this remarkable artist.

5. The Threshold HouseBoys Choir: intimations of spring.

Taken from this years beautiful film “form grows rampant” by Peter Christopherson (of Throbbing Gristle and Coil), this features entirely synthesised vocals which are unbelievably accurate to reality.

6. Holgar Czukay: boat woman song.

This incredibly beautiful and haunting piece from the Can innovator was one of the first ever examples of sampling, and it remains entirely unique and fresh sounding to this day.

7. Cyclobe: remember, archangels protect us.

A typically entrancing and colourful piece from the most ferociously hallucinogenic musical project ever.

8. Andreas Martin and Christoph Heemann: nuchtan fahren, sicher ankommen.

A wonderfully intrict guitar piece by Martin with atmospherics by Heemann (of Mirror and H.N.A.S.) which will appeal greatly to fans of John Fahey, Six Organs Of Admittance and Jack Rose.

9. John Dowland: melancholy galliard.

Performed by Julian Bream, this is a wonderfully romantic piece from my favourite Rennisance composer, with some delicate finger-picking work.

10. Colin Potter: passed.

A haunting drone-based soundscape with subtle elements of rhythm from an essential member of Nurse With Wound, Monos and Ora. this track is like a combination of Stars Of The Lid and The Caretaker with a sprinkle of Pole.

11. The Kronos Quartet: spem in alium.

A vocal piece composed by Thomas Tallis here performed on strings by the always remarkable Kronos Quartet. This beautiful and moving piece is the one ray of light in their incredibly dark masterpiece “black angels”.

12. Nurse With Wound: live in london 2007.

An excerpt from NWW’s Queen Elizabeth Hall performance from March of this year, featuring vocals by Matt Walron of irr. app. (ext.).

13. Supersister: gi, ga, go (gollumble jaffers).

A highlight from the excellent and hilarious “spiral staircase” album, an exploration of schizophrenia.

14. The Residents: sinister exaggerator.

From the “duck stab” album, certainly of their highlights.

15. Danny Boy and The Serious Party Gods: castro boy.

Hugely entertaining hi-nrg gay disco take on Zappa’s “valley girl” with some very amusing lyrics. My thanks to Wobbler for recommending this to me.

16. The Podryvaniem Boys: kalinka smerti.

A rather bizarre remix of The Russian Red Army Choir’s “kalinka”.
