Yeah, good listen, I'd buy most of it.Jeremy Gilbert on the Politics Theory Other podcast has a pretty good take on the Corbyn era and Labour's current travails, I reckon:
Corbyn being too internationalist in outlook rings true to me, i think we feel it pretty strongly over here what with the whole "IRA supporter" smear. I'd imagine every Muslim in the UK feels it as well.
This critique is new to me. Hard to square the UK with the USSR to the point where you can call someone Stalinist and for it to make sense?I thought one of the left critiques of Corbyn was that he wasn't internationalist enough? There was book published at some point criticising him for his "Stalinist" socialism-in-one-country tendencies. (I didn't read it but I read the piece a friend of mine wrote about it.)
Though you'd have to question how in good faith it was when attaching "Stalinist" to him, fairly toxic terminology even if you understand the context of its use. Unless you're talking about the tankie perspective I suppose.

At the time I thought it was used as a shibboleth and a bit of a stretch.call someone Stalinist and for it to make sense?
Well yeah, if this is just socialists falling out over who is and isn't socialist enough there's a damn good reason i haven't come across it before.seems more of an analogy than a comparison. though you need to already have a fair bit of contextual knowledge to even understand the analogy. how many normal schmoes even know what “socialism in one country” is a reference to? may as well have called him a zinovievite or an anti-revisionist hoxhaist or some other similar commie-talmudic insult
To be fair, it's always been clear that Corbyn was a Stalinist, although admittedly this can be hard to spot because the more obvious Nazism can obscure it.This critique is new to me. Hard to square the UK with the USSR to the point where you can call someone Stalinist and for it to make sense?
probably all made up but still made me lol
Bruce voted for Brexit
I'm not sure if I'm seeing confirmation bias type stuff here, but I got the feeling that a large number of English Boomer musicians were very Brexity.
I remember Mike Oldfield giving an interview talking about living in Monaco, Spain, Ibiza, the Bahamas (?) segued directly into pro Brexit talk without blinking, which was good.
Presumably they're sitting in their gaff in Portugal thinking they might get a tax break.
my wife read his bio/memoir, and said he doesn't come across as a humble man at all in it.Always felt a strong dickhead energy off Bruce.

I like the Who, but that generation are what they areDaltry was a brexiter as well.
Never liked The who anyway.
