So yeah, genuine question, would I be right in saying the following:
What all this is proving is that the whole Washington Consensus/Neoliberal order way of doing things is splitting the Conservative Party down lines in a similar way to how its splitting the Liberals - those in favour of capitalist economics as prescription for all problems are as horrified that the real conservatives are putting jingo-ism and the Queen as rightful, god-ordained monarch above what Milton Friedman said (which is more or less the EU's line on things, with a bit of wiggle room) , as they are that Corbynites are pushing for something like actual socialism.
I'd kinda agree its a split somewhere about there, though I think its a little more childish than that. I just think all those things are happening but at the same time, being a few generations into power the parties in the UK are very thin on the ground when it comes to people with actual principles beyond inheriting an eton view of whatever daddy and uncle did. A blowhard walking tantrum like Boris Johnston is put in a position because he is loud. They haven't really had anything really hard to do since maybe about 1950 and infinitely sidestepping things is the survival instinct for the factory farmed guys across the board. I kinda thing Johston (the one who still works there) might actually dissolve the tories if they keep sidestepping.
