PROGRAMME DETAILS

June 5th, 2015

Lost In Translation Japanese Karaoke

As we learned from Sofia Coppola’s lovely parable about lost souls finding each other in the chaos of Tokyo, nothing breaks the ice like a good karaoke. We invite you to join us for a very special 35mm screening of Lost In Translation followed by Japanese-style karaoke and Japanese cocktails.

Lost In Translation, May 31st, 2015

After having reinvented himself somewhat in the films of Wes Anderson, Bill took a step further with his melancholy movie star in Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson find each other across Coppola’s oriental dreamscape of lost souls and enter into a chaste love story whose chemistry rivals that of the most sweeping romance. The film earned Bill Murray his only Oscar nomination.

Bill n Harold Double Bill: Stripes/Caddyshack

Bill Murray and Harold Ramis were practically inseparable in the early part of Bill’s career and their distinct comic styles worked as well onscreen as it did off camera. Join us for a double bill screening of classic military comedy, Stripes, starring Bill and Harold and chaotic golf comedy Caddyshack, directed by Harold and featuring Bill Murray in a small but extremely memorable role.

7th June, 2015

Groundhog Day, 2015

One of the biggest comedies of the 90s, Groundhog Day sees Bill Murray as a man trapped in the same day over and over again until he figures out how to do it perfectly. Part romantic comedy, part metaphysical fairytale the clever script by Harold Ramis and Danny Rubin has aged beautifully.

June 12th & June 17th, 2015

Rushmore

Wes Anderson’s breakout as indie darling and Bill Murray’s first foray into middle-aged curmudgeon, Rushmore is a weird comedy about weird people making weird connections. Precocious teenager Max Fischer (a spectacular Jason Schwarzman) crosses paths with a depressed millionaire (Murray) as they vie for the affection of lovely schoolteacher Miss Cross.

13th June, 2015

Kingpin

One of the Farrelly Brothers more underrated gems, bowling comedy Kingpin sees Murray play a rare villain, king of competitive bowling Ernie McCracken. On the crest of a wave, the Farrelly brothers excellent Kingpin is often overshadowed by the behemoths that were Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary but is no less deserving of it’s place in comedy history.

June 19th & June 24th, 2015

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou

After a number of successful collaborations with Wes Anderson, Bill takes centre stage as Steve Zissou, a famous oceanographer who goes on an adventure on the high seas with a motley crew of companions. With an exquisite Bowie-heavy soundtrack and a distinctly Anderson-esque aesthetic, The Life Aquatic should not be missed on the big screen.

June 20th, 2015

Quick Change

Not only starring but also co-directed by Bill Murray, Quick Change is an unconventional and beloved bank heist film with a wonderful cast and a cracking screenplay. Full of classic Murray zingers, this hilarious comedy is best enjoyed with a giddy Light House audience!

June 27th, 2015

Ghostbusters Double Bill

A raucous comedy, a supernatural thrill-ride, a love letter to New York and a five-way bromance (seven if you wanna include Louis and Slimer) - Ghostbusters and it’s equally excellent sequel tick all the boxes for the perfect big screen adventure! Join us for spooky cocktails followed by both films back to back on the big screen. Costumes optional but always appreciated!

Ghostbusters I at 3:30pm, June 27th, 2015

Ghostbusters II at 3:30pm, June 28th, 2015
