my uncle has probably got one of the best collections of photos in the country. he sort of hates computers, but went digital a few years back. what would the safest simplest option be for him in regard to backup?? HD? SSD? Online? Other?

when i say personal, i essentially mean private.

he should sign up to flickr. you get a free terrabyte for storage now, which is bleedin' loads.
offsite back up is always preferable.

I have 704GB automatically backing up offsite with crashplan's unlimited backup, for $5.99 / about €4.40 a month.

I use it to run my local backups on the pc & laptop (to a separate NAS) box too. It's a no-brainer.
