A friend of mine is coming over to Dublin in a few weeks and I'm trying to think of the best non touristy places to go.
They'll only be around for about 24 hours .
So far I've only gotten as far as a pint and toastie in town.

Any suggestions?

Any particular reason why non-touristy?

Any of the National Museums (Natural History, National, or my fave at Collins Barracks), the National Gallery, The Chester Beatty Library or the Customs Museum @ Dublin Castle, they're all free.

They've been over before and gone the main museums already, that's why I'm struggling to think of other things do.

Take a trip out to Howth, nice walk along the pier, or round Howth Head, followed by a picnic, fish and chips or a nice meal in any of the pubs or restaurants out there.

Might be something going on on the day at Farmleigh?

Good for a walk around if nothing else, lovely gardens.

Go see the mummies in St Michans Church, it's a bit of a laugh:

The Literary Pub Crawl is good craic and a lot more professional than their website:

St Anne's and the general seafront in Clontarf, great on a good day.
Saint Anne's Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's the new(ish) Bram Stoker museum there as well (which i have never actually been to)

Finally go to the Botanic Gardens and sit on the Wittgenstein step.
