what's your longest album that you like

include graphs of like % vs. running time

That's a good one. That's the exact type of utterly pointless statistic I love.

So

DayDream Nation 70:47 at 100% love

Turn by The Ex is 86:56 at 100% like

The Seer is 119:13 at 85% like

Drukqs is 100:48 at 85% like

But they're exceptions to the rule that I usually don't like long albums.

Is there a graph maker on thumped ? There should be.

I have way too much time on my hands.

That's a triple album.

Christ, it is too. I remember lugging it home from a second-hand shop as an excited 17/18 year old Clash fan and being utterly knackered with it after about 3 sides. I'm not sure I've ever listened to the whole thing through. Trim the fat, though, and it could probably be their best album. Though now I think about it, Super Blackmarket Clash probably is. Is that a double album too?

Not including live/best of/expanded/reissued as a double etc type double records which really cuts the list down.
Some that I like would be

Gore-wrede
Hellacopters-high visibilty (only 3 sides on this one though)
Led Zeppelin-physical graffiti
Paintbox-trip,trance,travelling
Mass Appeal-jazz

and then stuff by bands like QOTSA,SunnO))),Boris,Electric Wizard etc whose lp's nearly always seem to be doubles.

London Calling is the only Clash album I like, all the rest I find more miss than hit. I've a fair few doubles in my collection. Exile On Main Street and Bitches Brew are two I don't rate as great, even though they're apparently classics.
Compilations don't count, but it reminded me of a few I have on the Soul Jazz label. This is amazing.

Actually this is a triple 45 #canofworms . But it is amazing.

I said that after 45 minutes you start to lose fidelity. Somehow they managed to squeeze it all on one LP.

The vinyl version of Disintegation runs for about 60 minutes. The CD has two extra tracks.

I've had the regular LP and the picture disc. Both are substandard in sound quality.

The best pressing is the original CD - murky but great turned up loud. The remaster is nasty.

1988 - 1993 was shocking for major labels cramming over an hour of music on one LP.

We've been here before but examples of this badness are

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising
De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead
Depeche Mode - Songs Of Faith and Devotion Live
Ice T - Original Gangster
Bodycount - Bodycount
Anthrax - Persistence Of Time
Neil Young - Ragged Glory
Neil Young - Unplugged
Public Enemy - Fear Of A Black Planet
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Ministry - Psalm 69 [POXY 10"]
Various - Singles Soundtrack
Smiths - 1993 reissues [MORE POXY 10"s]
