Backlash Is Dead™
Chewy, Philth, Funboi, Steve Reynolds, Jon Averill, Sam Davis
Saturday 29th November. Kennedys. 10.00pm
Lets get one thing clear, we hate club re-union nights, which is the main reason we have resisted doing this one off night for so long! But after putting up with endless hassle from our friends, and with this month marking just about five years since the club was started by Bodytonic with residents Philth, and Eno in the innocent care-free days of 2003, some of the DJs from the golden period of the club decided to give in to pressure and throw a once off 'Backlash Is Dead' party. Just a chance to DJ together and play some records from that period along with one or two new ones.
This will be the one and only time we do this though, that is a promise!
Backlash was a lucky little club. We started right when people's interests were turning to a more electronic sound. For many people we were their first experience of 'dance' music proper and the night was such a melting pot of different people that it created a unique atmosphere there every Thursday.
Many new nights sprang out of that amazing crowd. We're not by any means claiming credit for them but it has been great to see nights such as Hospital, Stasis, Synth Eastwood, Shock, Space Camp and many more started by people who were regulars at our night.
The club opened just about five years ago this week but it was all over in the blink of an eye.
