Say in rehearsals? I'm playing in bands on and off since 1992 and I've never used them. I'm surprised I'm not deaf. If I was playing a few nights a week I think I would.

Got my ear plugs over 10 years ago, and swear by them. When getting them fitted the specialist was running tests, first thing he said was "oh boy".
I'm sure I'd be stone deaf by now without them

Yes. Everyone should use them when playing and going/playing gigs.

But be sure to get decent earplugs which bring down the volume and not those safety earplugs as you wont hear anything.

Previously didn't use them and had constant ringing for days which drove me mad and I would very much like to be playing music in 20 years time.

Usually at least one in practice on whatever side the high SPL's are. most gigs too. I should wear them more but there are a fuckload of 'sound engineers' who cant use monitors properly.

I've actually found that using moulded earplugs has lessened my need for monitors. This is just a personal thing obviously, I know some folk love to have plenty in the wedges, but I don't. Earplugs, combined with getting a stand that lets me angle my amp towards my head so I can hear it better means I can turn my guitar down and not need as much in the monitors.

Drummers though. They fuck everything up. Loud bastards.

I will happily endorse this product til the day i die.

Alpine MusicSafe Pro Filter Ear Plugs: Amazon.co.uk: Musical Instruments

Superb ear plugs, I never go to a gig without them. Really comfortable and the sound with them in is excellent. I actually prefer the sound with them in because they take a lot of the horrible high end off the cymbals. Worth every penny of the €20 asking price.

Been using earplugs since 2005 when I first noticed a faint but persistent ringing in my right ear. It's still there, but thanks to the earplugs, it hasn't got worse or introduced itself to my left ear
