What do you like?

Forest Avenue is the balls for the foodie/relaxed elegance experience.
Also, The GreenHouse is very strong on this score. Like you want to have been seen to be making an effort but the experience itself isn't snooty like Gilbaud's.

Cliff Town House on Stephen's Green is great. Especially if you're into seafood.

Isn't Shanahan's a bit shit though? Just paying for the name/JFK chair? I've never eaten there but that's been my impression, anyone I know who rates it is more into the saying they were in Shanahan's than actually about the food.

If we're going up market, Chapter One or Pearl Brasserie would be my choices.

Chapter One is a great choice.

Shanahan's is good for what it is. A very fancy steakhouse.
You'll recognise everything on the menu and it will all be perfect. Not cheap, but fussy enough for an anniversary.
