An Taobh Tuathail turns 17
On Monday 2nd May 2016, An Taobh Tuathail celebrates seventeen years of spinning the finest in underground music from around the globe on the airwaves with a very special broadcast.
For this year's birthday, Cian Ó Cíobháin, who has been presenting the show since its maiden voyage , will feature songs sung in any minor or major language of the world, with the sole exception of English, which is the predominant language of pop music.
English has long been the lingua franca of pop music, from the early days of rock' n' roll, right up to the current era, whether in the songs we hear on commercial radio or songs that rise from the underground. However, for the 17th birthday special, Cian has decided to put the dominant language in pop music aside for one night and focus on the songs that move you in any of the other languages of the world. ATT has always championed underground music from almost every nook of the globe, regardless of which language the songs are sung in so they look forward to reaching out and hearing other voices on Monday 2nd May.
So your help would be hugely appreciated. All suggestions welcome to [email protected] or VIA Facebook & Twitter. We look forward to hearing them.
