Thinking of getting a digital slr some time in the New Year.
Any suggestions? Around the £300 mark.

Looking for a good start-off SLR camera.

Billy was my first love Ernesto.
He always has that special place in my heart.

Let's be honest here, you were never anything more than a casual casual easy thing.

That Nikon D90 looks alright. Even if you got a second hand D80 or something and spent some cash on good lenses. That said, i've no idea if any of these is avilable for 300 pound.

difference between that and the 1000D?
Of the top of my head..
9 focus points to 7
3" lcd screen to 2.5" ( def makes a diff IMO)
12mp to 10
3.5 fps to 3fps
It also has a nicer shutter.

While its dearer it def is worth an extra few weeks to stretch and get it.

/just seen Moose's last reply lol
I also left out spot metering which tbh is what I use most of the time now.

it would have been a two month stretch to save the extra bit for a 450D so i went and got a 1000D with the 18-55mm IS lens. used my haggling skillz to da max yo!
pretty happy with it. gotta RTFM a few times now. any beginner advice would be greatly appreciated

There's one of those magazines/book things in Eason' etc., about getting the most from your Canon DSLR at the moment. Well worth a grab and better and more "colourful" than the manual.

Probably about the fourteen euros mark.
